Veranstaltungsname:
Introduction to Digital Media (IDM)

Veranstaltungsbeschreibung:
IDM in the WS 20/21 will be a series of lectures and discussions, both on-site and online, revolving around the specific perspectives of different fields within digital media, represented by a group of our faculty, as well as attempts by these speakers to connect and relate their field to digital media in general and to give their version of the scope, issues, problems and challenges of digital media - both as a field of research and practice as well as a program of studies. Although this will not lead to one unified vision of what our program and digital media are, how it could be structured, categorized (or best dealt with in practical, administrative terms), we hope that this format will show the amazing depth and breadth of digital media and of our program. We aim to welcome, introduce, motivate, and excite our new students. We do not aim to provide a single framework or perspective from which to view the entire field or program.

(Modul number M-MA-1, requirement for all Digital Media students, both Uni and HfK)

Zusätzliche Informationen:
There will be a total of 8 online lectures via MS Teams, each followed by a brief Q&A session. Lectures beginn Mondays at 14:00. Each lecture will be followed by some online student presentations, where students will introduce themselves (background, previous work, aims, interests, just for getting-to-know) individually.

In the week following three weeks of online lectures, we plan to meet in small groups on site at the HfK for discussions and group work. Students not present in Bremen will join the on-site groups via MS Teams. Each group will have a designated on-site moderator, who will be asked to attempt to connect the on-site discussion with the online members of the group as much as possible. Students will be required to come prepared with written minutes of the previous talks as well as their own questions and on that basis, discuss, find and write answers to questions that the speakers have provided the weeks before.
