Temporary Spaces Portfolio

Veranstaltungsbeschreibung:
The portfolio class aims to prepare participants for “real world” experiences. “Portfolio” thereby includes the whole range of possibilities to introduce our practices — from a website to a resume, Instagram accounts, video trailers, mailing lists, business cards, NFT collections, or any other representation of a body of work. Selections will be made according to the interests and needs. Anyways, in the collective framework of the class, we will critically discuss issues related to portfolios: identity, representation, (art) market, etc.
The class will start with the presentation of two previous works by each participant and will continue with a conversation on selection, categorization and documentation processes.
While participants can choose any format to develop a portfolio, they are encouraged to find a specific purpose (application for a residency, scholarship, …) to “realize” and “use” a portfolio. For this reason, we will collaborate with experts who will give us a general overview of possibilities.

____With the aim to critically reflect space as a temporary category, Temporary Spaces class deals with historical, political, social, technological, and aesthetic aspects of spatial production. Beyond disciplinary conventions and boundaries, the class explores practices that include various media and experimentation with space, in different scales, from urban interventions to video, installations, performances, sound, and text. The works are research based spanning critical theory and ancient philosophy, feminist and queer theories, socialist architectural utopias etc. Ultimately, Temporary Spaces is a platform for the collaborative creation of reflexive aesthetic experiences.
Collective gatherings are in English.
In regular gatherings participants come together to discuss ideas, approaches, and work with other members of the class, faculty, and guests. A series of presentations, lectures and other inputs will be given during the semester to support individual and collective development. ____

Zusätzliche Informationen:
The class will take place in form of a series of compact workshops. The dates will be fixed during the first introduction meeting.
All Temporary Spaces modules are interconnected.
