Veranstaltungsbeschreibung:
IDM (Introduction to Digital Media) in the Winter term 22/23 will be a series of lectures and discussions (IRL), revolving around the specific perspectives of the different fields within digital media, represented by HfK and Uni Bremen faculty members. The speakers discuss their research area in digital media and present their version of the scope, issues, problems, and challenges connected to digital media, both as a field of research and practice and a program of studies. However, this will not lead to one unified vision of the Digital Media program or digital media at large. Instead, we hope that our format will show the impressive depth and breadth of Digital Media Bremen as a research program in art and sciences and digital media more generally. We want to welcome, introduce, motivate, and excite our new students.
There will be a total of eight lecture-presentations in the HfK auditorium (open to all members of HfK and Uni Bremen), followed by a short question and answer session with the speakers. On the same days, students will introduce themselves individually, show their background, previous work, their goals and interests, with the goal to get to know each other (open only to course participants).
In the week following the two-week lectures, small groups will give short presentations on topics related to the previous lectures and then be responsible to engage everyone in discussions based on the presented topics.
Grades will be based on the individual presentations, the group presentations / discussions and your active participation in all sessions.
Zusätzliche Informationen:
The first session will be October 17, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the HfK auditorium (Am Speicher XI 8) IRL. Your participation in this first session is essential, because we will cover many important organizational issues. Unfortunately, we can not provide hybrid / online sessions for this course. If you are unable to take IDM this winter semester, plan to do so the following winter semester.
IDM is a required course for all first semester Digital Media students, both Uni and HfK. The course is schedule once a year only during Winter term.
