Veranstaltungsname:
POWERFUL STRUCTURES: Artistic Research, Technopolitics & (Fan)Fictions

Veranstaltungsbeschreibung:
Artistic Research has now well established itself in contexts of the art academy, institutional exhibitions, individual artistic practices, and many more. Although the specific understanding of the term might differ from context to context, Artistic Research is attractive and timely, as it claims to defy the narrowness of established academic, artistic, or professional categories, and to offer counter-perspectives by engaging with research in a different – the artistic, the practical – way.

In this seminar we want to explore with you what Artistic Research can offer to make sense of, and to subvert, the (old and new) power relations that are built into the digital (infra)structures we inhabit.
Our special focus will be on exploring methods of speculation, (fan)fiction, and/or narrative as a mode for artistic research that aims at countering digital hegemonies.
This will mean to read together on topics of artistic research and digital culture/politics, to create artistic experiments within the areas of our own research interests, to write on our experiences, to follow practical and theoretical intuitions, to think and reflect on our doing as artists, designers, researchers.
