Potential Museum and Narrative Space

Veranstaltungsbeschreibung:
During this seminar, we will focus on various aspects of museum settings, including exhibition setup, display arrangement, visitor circulation, and architectural design. The aim is to analyze how these elements convey stories within the museum walls. Throughout the semester, we will visit a few museums in Bremen to collectively look into how exhibits and the overall visitor experience contribute to storytelling. Through these visits, we will discuss different narratives presented in museum spaces while considering the absence of other narratives and their significance. Additionally, we will delve into the importance of storytelling and the variety of narrative forms.

At the end of the course, participants are required to create practical or written responses to the museum visits. Regular attendance and class participation are obligatory.

This seminar will be held as full-day block sessions on Fridays at 11:00 for five days during the semester. Sessions will be in person, with optional one-to-one online meetings. The course will be held in English and is open to all departments.
