Veranstaltungsbeschreibung: In his book ”The End of the Cognitive Empire” Boaventura de Sousa Santos develops his concept of the "epistemologies of the south," in which he outlines a theoretical and methodological framework for challenging the dominance of Eurocentric thought. Santos suggests that global justice can only come about through an epistemological shift that guarantees cognitive justice. Such a shift would create new alternative strategies for political mobilization and activism.
We want to discuss the ”Epistomologies of the South“, as a way of decolonising cognition and methodologies. The book will serve for close readings and reflections but also experimentation and play. We will have workshop guests and the seminar will continue in the winter semester.
