This course offers a free of choice project (1) or a given subject (2).
1 // Create out loud, create out of the box
in this class we have to work online, due to this unbelievable crisis we are faced with world wide. Everyone is in another situation and has other priorities and interests. Therefore the subject you like to work on is free of choice.
The only requirement is, that there should be any kind of interaction included and it should improve something, that does not work today or does not exist yet. Technically it could be anything which enables you to create a prototype with.
This class will either take place as group "Teams Meeting", or as individual meetings within the course schedule (Wednesday afternoon 2 pm).
At the first Meeting we will talk about ideas, subjects, opportunities and technologies.
The final project can be anything. A book, a manifest, a furniture, an installation, interactive Data- or Information-Visualization, Augmented Reality Experiments, VR, Platforms, Catalogues, Programs, etc.
You need to choose and sign in to this class via artist, so you will have automatically access to this class on Microsoft Teams.
2 // Do not create a box
Maybe this crisis unfolds new needs or creates new priorities. Definitely it will accelerate the digitalization, on the one hand but on the other hand it will show us its limits and even worse, it makes us feel the limits. While there is the increasing need for sharing emotions or feel the belonging to someone who is not at the same place.
Most applications and services today try to accelerate processes and transform them into the digital. Mostly they are highly functional, data driven and rational. Which is now the downside of digitalization and the ongoing repeating break in the flow of using it.
In this course we try to question the current status quo of the ongoing digitalization and we will try to invent new ways of interacting with people, information, tools, services and environments. We want to bring more emotion, more unpredictable aspects to applications and their interfaces. We want to design things that are fuzzy, charming, autonomous or communicative by themselves.?
This is a highly experimental project. We will create anything that makes surprisingly super emotional sense.
